douce tourmente is a moving and dynamic choreography inspired by human relationships; those that last forever, the persistent ones, the resistant ones, the ones that we forget, that are altered, that alter us… and that we remember. In this creation, solidarity, metamorphosis, survival, isolation, the sensation of cold, dizziness, and warmth are brought together in a chaotic world from which emerges comforting poetry. This journey uncovers movements that bear history, revealing the bodies and souls feverish excitement. Shared physicality and gestures feed the senses.

Humans, in their most intimate relationships, keep physical evidences of their evolution, their fears and solace. This choreography is a trace of that humanity; a trace seen in its authentic moments, hypersensitive actions and exposed vulnerability. Dramatic purpose is revealed and relations are built by exploring spatial expansion and fragmentation. A journey in which the body’s altering strength renders moving fragility. The sound scape is current; contemporary, bewitching and captivating. douce tourmente … a touching encounter.

“With douce tourmente, Sylvie Desrosiers, offers a work of exceptional sensitivity and great choreographic proficiency. She is masterfully served by a Heidi Strauss at the peak of her artistry and a Marc Boivin, whose age only heightens his sensibility”

- Jacques Falquet, Liaison, 2013
