Exposed manifestations of emotions are at the heart of this work. Troubled by the tensions, conflicts, and philosophical and material disparities in our society, the body reacts with all of its fibres. Movement is born from the desire to be liberated from uncomfortable sensations. Nonetheless human poetry shares the stage with contrasting moments when comforting bodies offer empathy, sympathy, support and determination. A social nucleus is fighting to further transmit, communicate, and sift ideas. I like to expose the vibrant and nuanced body, and exhaust it to render tenderness. The performers have diverse life experiences and generational characteristics, a choice that encourages modulated imageries and perceptions. They are the first collaborators, injecting their life experiences into the work.

"SUBMERGÉ de pétales d’acier is a powerfully mesmerizing and meticulously performed work by Gatineau’s own, Sylvie Desrosiers. The skill and sophistication of Desrosiers’ work is a testament to the 25 years of rigorous dedication to her craft. Thoughtfully engaging, the world is unique in its poetic unveiling of the nuances of the body. Sylvie Desrosiers is a force in the Ottawa-Gatineau dance community. Her passion for excellence has made her one of the region’s greatest artistic treasures. She is an award winning artist of profound influence and generosity of spirit that knows no limits."
